Bamboo is an important renewable and biodegradable souce of carbon, cellulose microfibers, and food in China. In order to understand the characteristics of endophytic bacteria in the leaves of Phyllostachys edulis, Bambusa rigida and Pleioblastus amarus, high-throughput sequencing method was used to analyze the community structure and diversity of endophytic bacteria in the leaves of the three bamboo species in this study. The results showed that the endophytic bacterial communities of leaves of the three bamboo species were mainly composed of 26 phyla, including Proteobacteria, Actinobacteriota, and Myxococcota, and 521 genera, including 1174-901-12, Sphingomonas, unclassified_f__Enterobacteriaceae, and the community composition was relatively rich. Endophytic bacterial community analysis showed that different bamboo leaves had significant effects on the endophytic bacterial community composition. The diversity of B. rigida is the largest, followed by P. amarus, and the lowest is P. edulis. The PICRUSt function prediction analysis showed that the endophytic bacteria of bamboo leaves mainly involved 6 biological metabolic pathways and 41 sub-functions, with functional richness. There were differences in the diversity of endophytic bacterial community structure among different bamboo leaves, and each had its dominant population. Compared with monopodial bamboo (Ph. edulis) and mixed bamboo (Pl. amarus), sympodial bamboo (B. rigida) is more conducive to the accumulation of endophytic bacteria and the transfer in vivo. The communities and functions of three species of bamboo leaves endophytic bacteria were preliminarily discussed in the bamboo distribution area of Shunan Bamboo Sea, which provided a reference for the screening of bioactive substances of bamboo endophytic bacteria and the development of bamboo resources.
