Method for manufacturing panels， wherein said method comprises at least the step of forming a first substrate layer (9B) and a second substrate layer (9A) of thermoplastic material， wherein for forming said first layer (9B)， a first granulate (23) of said thermoplastic material is strewn， a glass fiber layer (12) is provided on this strewn layer (9B)， and thereafter， for forming said second layer (9A)， also a second granulate (23) of said thermoplastic material is strewn on said glass fiber layer (12)， wherein in a subsequent step both layers (9A-9B)， including the glass fiber layer (12)， are consolidated， characterized in that at least one of said first and second substrate layer comprise individual fibers， being moisture resistant fibers or cellulose fibers which are coated or treated by means of acetylation in order to render them at least to a certain extent moisture-resistant， said glass fiber layer comprising a glass fiber nonwoven fleece or glass fiber woven cloth.
