WP4 Desk-Based Research (Ireland): Education for Democracy – National and Comparative Analysis

This report presents the national desk-based research conducted by Dublin City University (DCU) under Work Package 4 (WP4) of the Horizon Europe DEMOCRAT project. WP4 explored Education for Democracy (EfD) across six European countries through national policy mapping, curriculum analysis, and teacher education review. The Irish component included a comprehensive review of primary, post-primary, and higher education curricula, as well as participatory and rights-based education initiatives. The analysis contributes to the comparative synthesis led by Tallinn University and the University of Helsinki. This dataset and report are released to ensure transparent authorship and citation for the Irish WP4 outputs and may be cited in any subsequent publications referring to the DEMOCRAT comparative Education for Democracy analysis.
