Transcriptomics in the nucleus accumbens shell reveal sex- and reinforcer-specific signatures associated with morphine and sucrose craving

RNA-sequencing was performed using nucleus accumbens tissue from male and female rats following 1 or 30 days of morphine self-admininstration or sucrose self-adminnistration. Overall design: A total of 101 samples were analyzed. The groups included male morphine (saline: 11, Day 1: 10, Day 30: 11), female morphine (saline: 8, Day 1: 7, Day 30: 8), male sucrose (cue-only: 5, Day 1: 7, Day 30: 8), and female sucrose (cue-only: 8, Day 1: 8, Day 30: 80)
