WGS of New Zealand Farm Dogs in the Right Dog for the Job Project

The Right Dog for the Job project is a three-year research collaboration aiming to betterunderstand the genetics of New Zealand working farm dogs. Having sequenced the whole genomes of 249 canines and with the goal of genotyping a further 2000 on a 710k HD array, this is the largest genomic study of the Huntaway and Heading Dog breeds to date. The project will lay the groundwork for future genetic testing and selection options for farmers and breeders, and ultimately aims to improve the health and working performance of the New Zealand farm dog population.
