Agricultural efficiency versus food security - trade-offs of value addition in crop production

Socio-economics data are obtained from the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) at farm level during the period from 2014 to 2022 – then anonymized , and complemented by additional unique socio-economic data collected by the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics - National Research Institute (also anonymized).Calorie account is based on the standard USDA (2002) conversion table, the kilocalorie and protein content was determined for 100 g of each listed product and for 1 egg, which, importantly, were intended for sale, personal consumption or transfer to other households (excluding intermediate consumption, e.g. for animal feed).
