The aim of these measurements was to characterize the Marangoni effect induced by an isopropyl alcohol (IPA) vapour jet directed onto the free surface of a flowing water layer. Based on stereo-micro-PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) and confocal chromatic sensor measurements, we probe the velocity fields and liquid film thickness under varying gas flow conditions. These measurements show that the injection of IPA vapour triggers localized Marangoni convection, resulting in velocity peaks near the liquid surface (up to 30 mm/s) and specific surface disturbances. Moreover, the data demonstrates the flow field and film thickness response to varying gas flow rates (450–700 mL/min, for both IPA and nitrogen control) under a constant volumetric water flow of 35 mL/s.The data is provided in a ZIP archive containing two main subfolders: PIV and Liquid film. All data files are in .csv format.Folder: Liquid filmThis folder contains the file "LqFT.csv", which includes time-series data of the liquid film thickness measured by the confocal chromatic sensor.Data is organized in columns (semicolon-separated).The first column contains the time stamp in milliseconds (Time, ms).Subsequent columns contain the liquid film thickness (LqFT) measurements for different gas impingement conditions: Nitrogen at 700, 575, and 450 mL/min (N700, N575, N450), IPA vapour at 700, 575, and 450 mL/min (IPA700, IPA575, IPA450), and a baseline with no gas flow (only water).Folder: PIVThis folder contains 7 files with time-averaged velocity fields obtained from the stereo-micro-PIV measurements.
