Dataset for "Retrieval of global surface phytoplankton community structure using a minimal set of predictors"

This dataset comprises the rigorously quality-controlled High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) pigment data and the source code for the final model developed in the study "Retrieval of global surface phytoplankton community structure using a minimal set of predictors". The underlying raw in-situ HPLC pigment data were obtained from the PANGAEA data center (https://www.pangaea.de/) and the NASA SeaWiFS bio-optical archive and storage system (SeaBASS; https://seabass.gsfc.nasa.gov/archive/).
