This dataset provides a high-resolution relative exposure index (REI) for the coastline of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The REI is calculated on a 50-m point grid resolution from the shoreline to 10 km offshore using effective fetch, wind direction, and wind speed. A Gaussian smoothing function increasing with distance from shore was applied to reduce artifacts. Values are continuous from 0 to 8.1 and are considered unitless. The dataset was validated with values from the Irish Shelf SWAN Wave Model. Data are provided in GeoTIFF format using the Irish Tranverse Mercator coordinate system.
