Dataset and R scripts for "Habitat disturbance interacts with Bd infection to shape the skin bacterial communities of an Amazonian frog"

Amphibians are the most threatened vertebrate class globally, with habitat alteration and the fungal pathogen Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd) representing two major and often interacting drivers of decline. However, how these stressors jointly influence host–microbiome–pathogen dynamics remains poorly understood.In this project, we investigate whether variation in anthropogenic habitat disturbance—quantified using the Human Footprint Index (HFI)—affects Bd infection patterns (prevalence and intensity) and the structure of skin bacterial communities in six populations of the Neotropical poison frog Dendrobates tinctorius. We assess both alpha and beta diversity of the overall microbiome as well as a subset of putative Bd-inhibitory bacteria.
