The scale for assessing the guidance and counselling competency of Vietnamese students majoring in Primary Education was designed to include 4 subscales: A general understanding of teaching and educational activities for primary school students; A general understanding of primary student guidance and counselling activities; guidance and counselling skills in a hypothetical environment and Skills for applying guidance and counselling in a practical context. The scale has been tested according to a standard procedure. The results showed that the scale had high value and reliability. At the same time, the results indicated the influence of the subscales on the students’ guidance and counselling competency. All these results demonstrated that the scale was a useful and reliable tool to assess the guidance and counselling skills of Vietnamese students majoring in Primary Education.
