资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. This volume contains information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name, date of birth and religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade and date of leaving the school are also recorded. Provision is made to record any occupation entered into on leaving school, but from the 1930’s this column is more commonly used to indicate the school to which a pupil may have transferred.A note at the head of the first page of entries reads: “Age at beginning of First Term { Pupils as shown for Year 1931 (and later) transferred from Old Register.” Eighteen boys’ entries and twenty girls’ entries in this volume date from prior to 1931.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission, and numbered in two separate sequences. The numbering of pre-1931 entries is that which they bore in the “Old Register,” and the later numbering in this volume is continuous with that until the end of 1955. Thereafter the numbering of entries – still in separate boys’ and girls’ sequences – begins anew at the commencement of each school year, and the last two digits of the year-number are added to the entry-number as a suffix.Admission registers in paper format ceased in 1999 when the department moved to recording enrolment details in electronic format.
