Areas of known and suspected waste and contamination at Atlas Cove Station

Geopackage containing polygons showing approximate areas of waste/debris and contamination at Atlas Cove Station, in WGS84 UTM Zone 43S.Compiled by Dan Wilkins during the Heard Island / Atlas Cove Preliminary Site Investigation process prior to the 2025/2026 Management voyage. The hydrocarbon contamination layer has been drawn from an analysis of building locations and chemistry data (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) published in Stark et al. 2003 (Assessment of contamination by heavy metals and petroleum hydrocarbons at Atlas Cove Station, Heard Island). The food dump, Larcie's Lane tip and the bottle dump have been drawn from the sketch map published in Stark et al. 2003 (Assessment of contamination by heavy metals and petroleum hydrocarbons at Atlas Cove Station, Heard Island). Maps from the AADC Map catalogue were also used to help geolocate the areas (specifically 15930, 15563, 1503, 1505, 15380).
