We request two INTEGRAL observations of 200 ksec each of thebright Seyfert 1.9 galaxy MCG -05-23-16. Previous observations by BeppoSAX showed a complex X-ray spectrum but did not extendsignificantly above 100 keV in order to study the continuum anddetermine the turnover (cut-off) in the hard X-ray band. INTEGRAL offers the unique possibility to study the physicsinvolved in absorbed AGNs and even enables us to study the connectionbetween flux variation high-energy cut-off and iron fluorescenceline. The variation in flux over the time of the observation invarious energy bands can reveal the geometry of this source. The twoseperate observations will most likely catch the source in twodifferent states allowing to further constrain the connection betweenhigh energy spectrum and reprocessing. Analysing all INTEGRALdata covering MCG -05-23-16 even though being at large off-axis angles led to a 9 sigma (20 - 40 keV) detection in ISGRI within 69 ksec ensuring that this source is indeed bright enough to perform detailed spectral studies.
