HTR Winter School 2025 – Hebrew Group: Mishneh Torah Record Description This dataset contains ground-truth transcriptions of selected sections from the Gaster Mishneh Torah manuscript (British Library Or. 10037), a 15th-century Sephardi copy of Maimonides’ Mishneh Torah.The transcriptions were created in Transkribus by participants of the Hebrew group during the Winter School: HTR of Historical Sources, held in Vienna in 2025, and a custom Hebrew transcription model called "Hebrew_Sephardic_non-Square" (Model ID 447725) was trained. The training corpus for the custom Transkribus Transcription Model included parts of the first volume of the manuscript: Part I (Gaster 173 / Or. 10037), containing sections from the books Mada, Ahava, Zemanim, Nashim, Kedushah, and Hafla’ah.The material features Sephardi script, marginal notes, and historical ownership marks from the Tiberias Sephardi study house and Isaac Bonsignori, along with additional 19th-century correspondence by A. Lowy. All transcriptions were derived from high-resolution digitizations provided by the British Library and the National Library of Israel’s Ktiv project.
