The DMZ Botanic Garden aims to understand the ecosystems of East Asia through research on North Korea plants and Northern lineage plants as well as contribute to the restoration and conservation of the ecosystem by developing techniques for cultivating northern and alpine plants in response to climate change, therefore establish a foundation for restoration of degraded vegetation in North Korea after unification and search for materials for commercialization in East Asia.
