MPWA Smoky Headwaters Initiative

The Smoky Headwaters Initiative focussed on identifying potential cold-water fish refugia and then improving this habitat through sediment reduction and increasing riparian shading. The water quality data was collected using a YSI probe is intended to provide baseline from pre-crossing remediation and riparian planting to allow an assessment of how headwater streams respond to these treatments. No funding has yet been secured to do the follow-up assessment but that is something that we are pursuing.
