Genome sequence of Treponema phagedanis strain v1. Treponema phagedenis strain:V1

Treponema phagedenis strain V1 was isolated from a clinical sample from a digital dermatitis lesion in a Swedish dairy cow.Digital dermatitis is polytreponemal infection of foot and leading cause of lameness in cattle. Bacteria from different genera including different anaerobic and microaerophilic spirochetes have been detected in digital dermatitis lesions. A strictly anaerobic treponeme,Treponema phagedenis-like phylotype is considered to be a key agent in the pathogenesis because it is found at the interface with healthy tissue and has been detected in infected cattle from Europe, North America and Asia.
