DNA damage responses in plants differ depending on the developmental stage. The transcriptional profile after X-ray treatment of stratified seeds is compared to that of 7d seedlings, relative to unirradiated controls. This analysis shows that seeds respond differently to DNA damage, with relevance to understanding how seeds withstand the high levels of genome stress associated with desiccation and quiescence.
