The works on the conservation of forest biodiversity and to maintain the forest ecosystem process constantly could establish a healthy forest ecosystem. The disturbance is one of the primary factors which to influence the forest ecosystem process such as to interrupt the energy flow and the nutrients cycle. In Taiwan the recurrence of typhoon yearly and the construction of plantations were the main nature and man-made disturbance on the forest regeneration and nutrients dynamics of forest ecosystem. The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of typhoon disturbance on the recovery of vegetation especially on the seedlings dynamics and forest floor nutrient loss in the Fushan hardwood forest. Pruning on the small branches of canopy trees to simulate the defoliation of typhoon impact and understory vegetation dynamics will be monitored. At the same time, nutrient output from root zone will be collected and analysed. The results can clarify the role of typhoon on vegetation and nutrient loss dynamics of this forest ecosystem. In Liukui experiment forest the soil nutrient changes were monitored in different stand age of Taiwan fir plantations to clarify the nutrient pool change in temporary.
