Gene expression of mixotrophic microalgae

Compared to the photoautotrophic mode (the traditional method), mixotrophic mode is an effective method of algal cultivation for biomass production and nutrient removal from wastewters. Mixotrophic algae used organics in wastewaters as extra energy for algal growth during low/absent light. However, biomass metabolite composition by mixotrophic mode can be different from the tradition method. We investigate these differences to suggest suitable applications of mixotrophic algal biomass in downstream.
