Microbiome of produced water from oil-reinjection systems

The presence of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) in oil production systems affects reservoir integrity and efficiency. Despite efforts to control microbial-induced souring, the impact of produced water reinjection (PWRI) on microbial shifts remains underexplored. This study assessed microbial dynamics in seawater, produced water (PW), and PWRI in a Brazilian oil reservoir, focusing on microbial composition.
