The question of the presence of phage encoded antibiotic-resistance genes was revisited here by sampling 14 pig fecal samples in various farms, and performing shotgun, deep sequencing on both total microbiota and highly purified viral fractions. The virome assemblies were sufficiently comprehensive to allow in addition the discovery of two new and prevailing viral taxa.
