VPRS 15035 Register of Inward Correspondence

This series consists of registers of inwards correspondence created by Diamond Valley Shire council (VA 717) as a means of tracking inward correspondence. An inward correspondence register was maintained as part of a recordkeeping system to manage council correspondence.As each letter was received by the Council, it was registered and assigned a classification code. Details recorded included the date of the letter, the author, a prcis of contents of the letter, the classification number assigned to the letter, primary allocation, and action taken and the date of action. Primary allocation referred to the person, position, or division within the Council that the letter was referred to upon receipt. Some entries were crossed out in red ink, the reasons for which require more research, but it would appear that the entries were crossed out once action upon them had been completed.
