ERA5 gravity wave fluxes and drag on subdomains and in zonal mean

The dataset contains gravity wave fluxes and drag evaluated from the ERA5 reanalysis for the years 1979–2022. The gravity wave effects are computed in the zonal mean (drags-zonal-daily-vert-all_rho20.nc) and for five gravity wave hotspots (Himalayas, West America, East Asia and two hotspots in the Southern Andes; drags-subds-daily-vert-all_rho20.nc). The quantities are calculated on model levels on an hourly basis, using rhomboidal truncation with a cutoff of 20; for details, see the referenced publication. To save space, the data published here are provided only as daily averages on a coarser vertical grid. For the full hourly dataset on model levels, please contact the authors.
