This study shows that the integration of generative AI into product design requires walking a fine line between the excitement of technology advancement and the challenges for the organization. AI expedites design processes and makes the process more efficient, but, if implemented properly, it will also mean radical shifts to the work of employees, who will change from manual execution to the monitoring and refining of AI generated outputs. As organizations face the trade offs in attempting balance between speed and creativity, they focus on metrics in delivery process that reward delivery speeds at the expense of innovation exploration, resulting in homogenized designs that increase the risk of brand distinctiveness taking a nosedive. Human trust building with AI systems is critical, iterative, transparent, but constrained by the technology's lack of ability to encompass the full context of emotional resonance or brand identity. Achieving business impacts with AI requires changes in the flow of work with automation and human expertise, performance measurement that rewards both lean and creative execution, and the right environment to bring together the precision that algorithms and the creative intuition chasm.
