A new pollen part mutant 415-1 was developed by selective fertilization with self-compatible pollen from gamma-irradiated cultivar Kosui (S4S5) by pollinating the style of non-irradiated Kosui. The S-haplotype of 415-1 was presumed to be partially duplicated on chromosome 17 and the S genotype was determined as S4dS5S5, where d means duplicated. To determine the exact size of the duplicated regions and to clarify the mode of inheritance of the duplicated segment, whole genome sequences with 30 x genome coverage were conducted in the mutant 415-1 (S4S5S5), a breeding line 515-20 (S1S3), and their progenies which have chromosome 17 specific duplication (S3S4S5, S3S5S5, S3S4S4).
