Microbial Diversity in Coastal Sargassum Strandings

The objective of this study was to compare the microbial communities of fresh and decomposing Sargassum for species-level microbial communities using deep sequencing methods. This study is unique in the level of sequencing with depths corresponding to an average of 125 million reads per sample coupled with advanced bioinformatics to provide information at the species level.
