Deer sample sizes monitored from different herds in Veluwezoom and Alberta. Variables presented are: total - number of deer equipped with GPS logger for each herd; > 1y. recorded – number of deer that were recorded for more than one year; analyzed – total number of deer from which the GPS data were analyzed; female/male – number of female/male deer from which GPS data were analyzed. Porcupine Hills only had three deer that were tracked for more than one year and were therefore not analyzed. Livingstone and Crowsnest overlapped heavily in their home ranges and were treated as a single herd. Waterton and Whaleback both had one animal which had to be discarded due to erratic GPS locations. We only analyzed thirteen representative animals of the Carbondale herd to avoid over representation of this herd relative to the other herds analyzed.Number of deer tracked for each herd.
