CLMS Medium Resolution Vegetation Phenology and Productivity (MRVPP) dataset, Version 6.0
收藏资源简介:
Dataset Description The CLMS MR-VPP 6.0 dataset provides the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS) Medium-Resolution Vegetation Phenology and Productivity (MR-VPP) product derived from MODIS Nadir BRDF-Adjusted Reflectance (NBAR), Collection 6.1. The dataset delivers annual vegetation phenology and productivity metrics at 300 m spatial resolution across Europe, covering the period 2000–2024, with two growing seasons per year (S1 and S2). Key Updates Compared to MR-VPP V5.0 The MR-VPP V6.0 product introduces the following main improvements relative to the previous version (V5.0): Cross-sensor harmonizationMODIS NBAR reflectance has been harmonized with Sentinel-3 NBAR through the application of a Spectral Band Adjustment Factor (SBAF). This ensures improved cross-sensor consistency and alignment with the CLMS operational framework. The equations for SBAF for MODIS red and NIR bands are \[SBAF_{red} = \frac{\rho_{red}^{OLCI}}{\rho_{red}^{MODIS}}= 1.063247 + 0.255060 \cdot NDVI - 0.471804 \cdot NDVI^2\] \[SBAF_{NIR} = \frac{\rho_{NIR}^{OLCI}}{\rho_{NIR}^{MODIS}}= 1.044383 + 0.007799 \cdot NDVI\] Temporal compositing consistencyV6.0 is generated from 5-day interval PPI (Plant Phenology Index) time series (after SBAF adjustment), ensuring consistency with the CGLOPS-1 Land Surface Phenology (LSP) product, which is based on 5-day Sentinel-3 NBAR observations. Alignment with CLMS LSP productsMR-VPP V6.0 is designed to be consistent with CGLOPS-1 LSP in terms of processing framework and intended interoperability. Reprojection to the LAEA projection at 300 m spatial resolution is foreseen within the CLMS production chain (not included in this dataset).Further information on CGLOPS-1 LSP is available at:https://land.copernicus.eu/en/news/land-surface-phenology-v2-a-new-global-reference-for-monitoring-vegetation-dynamics File Organization Data are distributed as compressed archives, each corresponding to one year and one growing season (season1 or season 2): clms_MR-VPP_300_S{1|2}_YYYY01010000_EU_MODIS_V6.0.1.zip Each archive contains 14 GeoTIFF files, representing a complete set of vegetation phenology and productivity metrics: Phenology timing metrics SOSD – Start of season (date) EOSD – End of season (date) MAXD – Date of maximum vegetation activity LENGTH – Length of growing season Vegetation dynamics metrics SOSV – Value at start of season EOSV – Value at end of season MAXV – Maximum value MINV – Minimum value AMPL – Seasonal amplitude Rate metrics LSLOPE – Green-up rate (left slope) RSLOPE – Senescence rate (right slope) Productivity metrics SPROD – Pseudo-productivity, defined as the integral from the seasonal baseline to the peak TPROD – Total seasonal productivity (integral of PPI over the growing season) Quality layer QA – Quality assurance layer describing observation reliability and processing conditions (see CLMS MR-VPP V5.0 ATBD for detailed QA definition https://zenodo.org/records/19257165/files/MRVPP-ATBD_V5.0_final.pdf ) Notes All GeoTIFF files within each archive are spatially co-registered and grid-aligned, enabling direct stacking and pixel-wise analysis. The second growing season (S2) is absent or sparse in many regions, reflecting actual European phenological regimes rather than artefacts present in earlier product versions.
