Amplicon sequencing of microbiome of raw milled material from vendor-supplied house dust mites

House dust mite extract (HDM) is a commonly employed allergen in mouse model of allergic airway inflammation, HDM stimulation induces both type 2 and type 17 immune responses. Previous studies showed microbial component LPS is present in HDM extract, which is known as strong regulator for type 17 immune response. However, the microbial compositions of HDM from commercial vendors have not been described. In this study, we performed 16S rRNA sequencing on milled raw materials from Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus culture provided by four independent commercial vendors, and we have identified the presence of microbial sequences from numerous classes of microbes in HDM from different vendors.
