Ikawa Dialect Corpus: Nikatsugi (Audio and ELAN Transcriptions, Tashiro 1988)

This corpus contains audio recordings and ELAN transcriptions of a conversation in the Ikawa dialect (井川方言), spoken in the northern mountainous area of Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The recording was made in Tashiro, Shizuoka City, in December 1988 by Nakajoo Osamu, and features two speakers: Takinami Yoshi (b. 1899) and Takinami Mamoru (b. 1928). The conversation concerns the practice of mochiko (もちこ), the carrying of heavy goods on one's back along mountain paths. The corpus includes the original audio recording, ELAN annotation files, a plain text interlinear transcript of both speakers (147 utterances), and sentence-segmented audio files for each speaker (Yoshi: 99 files, Mamoru: 48 files). The audio data was collected by Nakajoo Osamu† (Professor, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Shizuoka University).
