REF 2021 - Diversity Data and Code

Dataset and processing code linking UK Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 research quality results to origin, gender and academic age diversity indicators for 1,848 institution–Unit of Assessment communities. Diversity characteristics were inferred from bibliometric metadata in OpenAlex for 535,456 research-active individuals. The dataset provides a graduated suite of diversity measures, from simple compositional statistics through standard entropy-based indices to multidimensional Leinster–Cobbold indices incorporating inter-group similarity. The R code reproduces the full processing pipeline from data linking through to index computation. A data descriptor paper has been submitted and its link will be provided upon publication.
