Ribble staff water quality monitoring locations (using Citizen Science methods)

Ribble Rivers Trust's staff collect water quality data for a number of reasons: 1. At each of the 300+ sites that we survey each summer to assess the salmonid fish populations. To help build a picture of why certain fish results might be being observed. 2. As spot samples when carrying out any site visits or other activities next to a river. E.g. farm advice visits, education or engagement events, overseeing contractors, etc. 3. As part of monitoring of RRT's projects sites both pre- and post-works, to measure the impact the interventions have had on improving water quality. Which water quality parameters are being tested? Ribble Rivers Trust's staff test water samples for the following parameters*. The equipment and methods used are identical to those employed by the Trust's Citizen Scientists. Temperature (degrees C). Equipment used: HI-98129 Pocket EC/TDS and pH Tester, Low Range pH (pH units). Equipment used: HI-98129 Pocket EC/TDS and pH Tester, Low Range Electrical conductivity (uS). Equipment used: HI-98129 Pocket EC/TDS and pH Tester, Low Range Total dissolved solids (ppm). Equipment used: HI-98129 Pocket EC/TDS and pH Tester, Low Range Orthophosphate as P (PO4-P) (ppm). Equipment used: HI-713 Low Range Phosphate Checker for Saltwater and Freshwater Aquariums | Hanna Instruments UK, as per the best practice guidance set out by CaSTCo (Method audit: Phosphate – Hanna Checker - CastCo) Unionised ammonia (NH3) (ppm). Equipment used: HI-700 Ammonia Low Range Colorimeter - Checker HC (0.00 to 3.00ppm), utilising CaSTCo's best practice principles for the similar phosphate checker (see above). Turbidity (FTU). Equipment used: HI-93703-11 Portable ISO Compliant Turbidity Meter with Data Logging and PC Connectivity E.coli (cfu/100ml). Equipment used: R-CARD® EC - E. Coli - Rapid Test - Accurate Count - Carton of 500 – Roth Biosciences, LLC *Note that there will be samples that were not tested for all parameters. Why can you not see the raw data? Landowners allow our Citizen Scientists to access their land on the provision that the data collected is not shared in the public domain. RRT & partners are working closely with landowners and businesses to remedy pollution sources identified by the data. To publish the raw data could lead to a breakdown of trust and prevent improvements from being delivered. To request access to the raw data, contact admin@ribbletrust.com, stating the purpose for which you require the data. We will assess each request on a case-by-case basis. 里布尔河流信托基金(Ribble Rivers Trust,简称RRT)的工作人员出于多重目的收集水质数据:1. 在每年夏季开展调查的300余个监测点位中评估鲑科鱼类种群状况,以厘清特定鱼类监测结果出现的成因;2. 在开展沿河实地考察或其他相关活动时采集即时水样,例如农场咨询走访、教育推广或公众参与活动、监管承包商作业等;3. 作为RRT项目点位施工前后监测工作的组成部分,评估各类干预措施对水质改善的实际效果。 本次检测涵盖的水质参数有哪些? 里布尔河流信托基金的工作人员会对水样开展以下参数*的检测,所用设备与方法与该基金的公民科学家(Citizen Scientists)完全一致: 1. 水温(摄氏度,degrees C):所用设备为HI-98129型袖珍EC/TDS与pH测试仪; 2. 低量程pH值(pH单位):所用设备同上,即HI-98129型袖珍EC/TDS与pH测试仪; 3. 低量程电导率(微西门子,uS):所用设备同上; 4. 低量程总溶解固体(ppm):所用设备同上; 5. 以磷计的正磷酸盐(PO4-P,ppm):所用设备为HI-713型淡水与海水水族箱用低量程磷酸盐检测仪(Hanna Instruments UK出品),检测方法遵循英国水质监测合作组织(CaSTCo)发布的最佳操作指南(方法审核:磷酸盐检测——Hanna检测仪 - CaSTCo); 6. 非离子氨(NH3,ppm):所用设备为HI-700型低量程比色法氨检测仪——Checker HC(检测范围0.00至3.00ppm),检测原理遵循前述磷酸盐检测仪所采用的CaSTCo最佳操作规范; 7. 浊度(FTU):所用设备为HI-93703-11型便携式符合ISO标准浊度仪,具备数据记录与PC连接功能; 8. 大肠杆菌(cfu/100ml):所用产品为R-CARD® EC——大肠杆菌快速检测试剂盒(精确计数,每盒500份)——Roth Biosciences, LLC出品。 *注:部分水样未完成全部参数的检测。 为何无法查看原始数据? 土地所有者允许我们的公民科学家进入其土地的前提是,所收集的数据不得在公共领域共享。RRT及其合作方正与土地所有者和企业紧密协作,以修复数据所识别出的污染源。发布原始数据可能会破坏双方的信任基础,阻碍水质改善工作的推进。如需获取原始数据,请发送邮件至admin@ribbletrust.com,并说明所需数据的用途。我们将逐案评估每一项申请。 使用条款 本图层中展示的数据可用于符合知识共享署名-相同方式共享4.0许可(Creative Commons license CC BY-SA 4.0 License)规定的用途。
