资源简介:
Background: Most COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials recruited Caucasian participants with an average age of 50 and few underlying illnesses, resulting in little information on COVID-19 vaccine efficacy in older and diverse populations.
Aims of the CITF-funded study: This study aimed to compare COVID-19 vaccine antibody levels between individuals aged 30-50 years old and individuals aged 70 years and older, at various time points during vaccine dosing schedules (including 24 weeks after the final dose), and to compare the safety of COVID-19 vaccines between these cohorts.
Methods: This cohort study recruited individuals aged 30-50 from Ontario through advertisements at vaccine distribution centers and pharmacies across Toronto and via email recruitment. Participants aged 70 years and older were recruited similarly, including email blasts through the Canadian Association of Retired Persons. Participants were followed up 7 days and 3 weeks post first dose, and 2, 12, and 24 weeks post second dose, providing a dried blood spot sample at each point. Participants also kept an eDiary for 7 days after each vaccination.
Contributed Dataset Contents: The datasets include 1286 participants who completed baseline surveys between May 2021 and March 2022. 87% of participants gave one or more blood samples between May 2021 and July 2022 for analysis. A total of 6993 samples were collected. Variables include data in the following areas of information: demographics (birth date, gender, ethnicity, education), general health (weight and height, smoking, chronic conditions, treatments, immunosuppressants), longitudinal follow-up for COVID infections (COVID diagnosis, symptoms, hospitalization), health events following SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, and serology (IgG against SARS-CoV-2 RBD, nucleocapsid, and spike proteins).
