During routine testing on behalf of a UK drinks manufacturer, a yeast isolate was discovered which could not be identified by 26s rDNA D1-D2 sequencing. Subsequent genomic sequencing using short reads produced scaffolds and contigs which were used in a phylogenetic analysis using both the OMA and the BUSCO databases. These both place the novel species close to, but distinct from, fully described Wickerhamomyces or Cyberlindnera species.
