RNA-seq of postharvest Muscat Hamburg grapes treated with SO2

Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is the most frequently used preservative for table grapes, yet the preservation mechanism remains unclear. To ascertain the specific genes and pathways involved in SO2 preservation, RNA-seq technology was employed to characterize the transcriptome profile of grapes during postharvest storage. This study will contribute to a better understanding of the SO2 preservation mechanism, provide potential targets for the genetic improvement of table grapes, and help identify some other compounds that have similar preservative properties.
