NRS-818 | Statement of receipts and disbursements [Clergy and School Lands Corporation]

A summarised account of moneys received and expended by the Corporation in the years 1826-30 and by the Commissioners in 1831. Receipts and expenditure (disbursements) for each year are treated separately. Sources of income are few and are chiefly the Colonial Treasury (by Governor's Warrant), pew rents, income from issue of debentures, and (in later years) moneys received from sale or lease of Church lands. Disbursements include expenses of the Church Establishment (chiefly salaries of chaplains and other church officers); improvement and building of Churches and Parsonages; expenses of the Parochial Schools Establishment (chiefly salaries of schoolmasters and catechists); building and repair of schoolhouses; expenses of the Male and Female Orphan Schools, the Orphan Agricultural Establishment, the Aboriginal Native School; and charges of management. At the end of the Statement for each year there is a more condensed summary of the accounts for that year entitled "Recapitulation", which balances receipts against disbursements and indicates the amount of money "carried forward" to the following year. At the end of the volume is an explanatory appendix, the preface to which states its explicatory purpose and the fact that the observations are offered by the Commissioners for Managing the Affairs of the Clergy and Schools Corporation.
