Dataset for the statistical analyses in the paper: "The role of out-of-school language contact and instruction in L2 English and L2 French vocabulary knowledge and use". Data were collected from second language learners of English and French in secondary school (grade 10 and grade 12), who each completed a vocabulary test, writing tasks and a questionnaire in both languages. The dataset contains participants' scores on the vocabulary tests (total percentage scores), the values computed for several indices of vocabulary use in writing (lexical diversity and lexical sophistication), and their responses to the questionnaire in terms of length of instruction and out-of-school L2 contact.
