The EBV infects nasopharyngeal cells. Infection program can be lytic or latent. Latent EBV infection is associated with the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. This study aims to elucidate the preneoplastic mechanisms of EBV in nasopharyngeal cells via singel cell RNA sequencing. Overall design: Nasopharyngeal primary cells were cultured in a 3D cell culture model (organotypic rafts). Rafts were subjected to EBV infection (4 days post-rafting) by co-culture with anti-hIgG reactivated Akata21 Burkitt lymphoma cells infected with EBV according to PMID: 35434197. Rafts were collected, cells were filtered, viable single cells were counted, and subjected to single cell RNA library construction and sequencing.
