VPRS 5181 Outward Letter Books, Clerk of the Parliaments

This series consists of letter books, containing copies of unregistered outward correspondence, from the Clerk of the Parliaments.The Clerk who created the records in this series was Thomas G. Watson, who acted in the position of Clerk of the Parliaments from 1910-1912. From other series in PROV custody with records created by Watson, it would seem that this particular clerk was in the habit of using several letter books simultaneously for letters relating to different subject matter. (Watson also arranged his letter books by subject when he was Clerk of the Legislative Assembly see VPRS 5173 Outward Letter Books.) Thus Units 1 and 2 cover a common date range.The majority of entries in Unit 2 relate specifically to organising details of the Governors Departure and the arrival of the new Governor in 1911.It would seem that Watson created this series to supplement, rather than replace, the existing recordkeeping system for copies of outward correspondence from the Clerk of the Parliaments (see VPRS 5182 Outward Letter Books, in which there are regular entries from Watson).
