Genome Assembly of the temporary socially parasitic spiny ant Polyrhachis lamellidens

Polyrhachis lamellidens is a temporary socially parasitic ant. We assembled and annotated the draft genome of P. lamellidens using the 10Ã? Genomics linked-read sequencing. Genomic DNA was extracted from two workers of P. lamellidens using Genomic-tip 20/G. Extracted DNA was then used to create linked-read library using Chromium Genome Kit. Prepared Illumina library was then sequenced on MiSeq with MiSeq Reagent Kit v.3 600 cycles. Genome sequence was assembled using Supernova v.2.0 software with default parameters. The assembled genome was used to annotate protein-coding genes using BRAKER v3.0.8. The draft genome assembly of P. lamellidens provides a valuable resource for the molecular biological and bioinformatic basis for studying the strategy of social parasitism in ants.
