Combustion characteristics and scaling of supercritical CO2 circulating fluidized bed boiler

Owing to advantages such as compact components, high cycle efficiency and environmentally friendly, supercritical CO2 power cycle has great potential to be integrated into conventional coal-fired power generation systems. In order to successfully implement this cycle into coal-fired Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) technology, several phenomena require further elucidation, such as the significant increase in furnace heating surfaces as well as the detailed gas-solid hydrodynamics and combustion characteristics. In attempt to achieve the above, this thesis (1) established a 600 MW S-CO2 CFB boiler with novel annular furnace; (2) conducted a 3D computational fluid dynamics simulation research on its comprehensive performance based on the MP-PIC scheme; and (3) summarized scale-up characteristics of S-CO2 CFB boiler.
