Different results obtained after three DNA vaccination trials in rainbow trout against Ichthyophthirius multifiliis with regard to protective effect (no significantly lower parasite burden in the target groups), I. multifiliis specific antibody production, significant mRNA regulations by qPCR and I-antigen protein detection by IHC staining with the primary antibodies; rabbit anti-G5II Iag52B and the monoclonal mouse I. multifiliis (I-ag) specific antibody MAb G3–61. All groups were injected im, except for Grp 6 in T2 which was injected subepidermally.
