资源简介:

Epigenetic regulation is an important mechanism that allows microorganisms to control gene expression without changing the basic DNA sequence. These regulatory processes help microorganisms adapt to changes in their environment and respond to stress. The main epigenetic mechanisms include DNA methylation, histone-like protein modification, chromatin-associated regulation, and small regulatory RNAs. DNA methylation can influence the activity of specific genes and affect important cellular processes. In bacteria, DNA methylation is also involved in DNA replication, repair, protection against foreign DNA, and regulation of bacterial virulence. Epigenetic regulation may therefore contribute to changes in microbial growth, metabolism, adaptation, and pathogenicity.
