GEER Field Reconnaissance

The initial field reconnaissance team arrived in Ridgecrest on July 5th at about 3 pm, and performed some field measurements of the surface rupture for the M6.4 July 4th event. We then experienced the M7.1 event on the evening of July 5th, and returned to the field on July 6th to perform mapping of the surface rupture for the M7.1 event. We also visited Argus and Trona, where liquefaction and lateral spreading was observed. We continued our reconnaissance on July 7th, mapping both surface ruptures and re-visiting Argus and Trona. Information gathered during this mission include geotagged digital photos, field measurements of surface fault rupture and liquefaction features, and security camera video from the Ridgecrest Super 8 during the M7.1 event.
