Patterns of GFP fluorescence for viable but non-culturable, persister, susceptible, susceptible not lysed, and untreated controlcells

Distribution of GFP fluorescence levels in viable but non-culturable, persister, susceptible, and susceptible not lysed cells in the <i>tolC</i>, <i>tnaC</i> and <i>ptsG</i> reporter strains before (t=0), during (t&lt;3h), and after (t&gt;3h) treatment with ampicillin at a concentration of 25xMIC. GFP fluorescence levels in untreated control cells were obtained in separate experiments where bacteria were provided with LB only, without ampicillin, from t=0 onwards.
