The argonaut octopuses has pelagic lifestyle unlike common octopuses. Female argonauts produce a calcareous eggcase secreted by the tips of the first arm pair. Whole genome analysis by long reads was performed in cooperation with the Platform for Advanced Genome Science (PAGS).
