Dataset for Manuscript on Strategic Philanthropy or Ceremonial Conformity?

This dataset contains firm-level panel data on corporate philanthropic donations, political contributions, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance for S&P 500 companies between 2010 and 2023. Variables include annual donation amounts, PAC contributions, firm characteristics (e.g., board characteristics, size, industry, profitability), and ESG scores. The dataset was compiled the LSEG database. It supports the analysis of strategic motivations behind corporate donations and their association with sustainability outcomes.
