Wildfire in Campania, Italy (2025-08-09)

On the 9 August 2025 in the morning (6am-12am), a large wildfire was reported to have affected the area around Terzigno, Ercolano and Trecase, in the Naples province, near Vesuvio vulcano. The fire was very close to high densely populated areas, with a fire front about 2 km long. The National Civil Protection System was on alert and national and regional Canadair aircraft have been deployed. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide initial rough estimation, wildfire extent and damage assessment emergency mapping.
